Strengthening our capabilities

Networks

We are investing in strategic partnerships that are critical to our personalised medicine agenda.

Global, national and local networks based in hospitals, universities and research institutes are important to accelerate knowledge and methodologies, to share major equipment and facilities, and to access a critical mass of research data.

An international effort towards personalised medicine for heart disease and diabetes.

Strengthening our networks

We know that the biggest health problems facing modern society cannot be solved in isolation. They will be solved by large, multidisciplinary research teams working together in Australia and around the world. This is the driving force behind the Baker Institute’s collaborative initiative.”
— Professor Tom Marwick.

Our major partnerships include:

The Cambridge Baker Systems Genomics Initiative, which incorporates a node at the Baker Institute in Melbourne, Australia, and another at the Department of Public Health and Primary Care at the University of Cambridge, one of Europe's leading academic departments of population health sciences.

The Baker Department of Cardiometabolic Health, a department of the University of Melbourne Medical School, leverages the Baker Institute and University of Melbourne strengths in cardiometabolic capabilities and collaboration.

Other major collaborations have also been established with La Trobe, Deakin and Swinburne universities.
